Barcelona, Man City & Bayern told 'insane' offers won't land De Jong & De Ligt

Barcelona, Manchester City and Bayern Munich have been advised to not waste their time lodging bids for Ajax starlets Frenkie de Jong, Matthijs de Ligt and Donny van de Beek. Goal revealed back in June that 21-year-old midfielder De Jong has emerged as a top target for those at Camp Nou. He is considered to be a useful addition for the present and future, with Barca seeking a natural successor to departed icon Andres Iniesta. De Ligt, meanwhile, has been attracting interest from La Liga, Premier League and Bundesliga champions, with Barca, City and Bayern eager to buy into the 18-year-old defender’s potential. Ajax, though, have no intention of parting with any prized assets and have informed a long list of suitors that “insane” offers will not see them relax that stance. The Eredivisie club’s sporting director, Marc Overmars, told De Telegraaf: "Frenkie de Jong, Donny van de Beek and Matthijs de Ligt are not for sale as far as we are concerned. "Not even for an insane amount. They should play about 40 games for Ajax first in 2018-19." Overmars added: "De Jong to Barcelona? He is not for sale. And I have communicated this to all parties involved. It's the same for Matthijs. "Clubs that are interested are free to come back next year. "Of course, Davinson Sanchez's move last year showed that it is not always easy to stand firm. But we have now reached a point where we simply say that we are not selling these players. "They are still only 19, 20 years old. I have told these players and their agents that a transfer after this season could be an option if the right offer comes in." It appears as though Barca, City and Bayern will have to turn their attention elsewhere if they wish to make additions with one eye on the future this summer. The door may, however, be opened to them in 12 months time if they are prepared to be patient and give developing talents another year to flourish in their homeland.

GW8 DIFFERENTIALS; ANTHONY KNOCKAERT

Anthony Knockaert (£5.5m) The midfielder is owned by only 1.1 per cent of FPL managers ahead of his home encounter against West Ham United. Knockaert has one goal and three assists for Brighton & Hove Albion, totalling 27 points in the first seven Gameweeks. At home, in particular, he has been consistent. The Frenchman has produced a goal or an assist in all three of his appearances at the Amex Stadium, which includes visits from Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur. Indeed, he has averaged six points per home match in 2018/19. Home impact His underlying statistics also back up Knockaert's growing influence on Chris Hughton's side. The 26-year-old's totals of 14 shots on goal and 11 chances created are more than any team-mate. The Hammers arrive without a clean sheet in their three away matches. They have conceded eight goals on the road, the third-worst record in the Premier League. Knockaert looks well placed to take advantage of those frailtie...

WHEN IS THE FPL GAMEWEEK 1 DEADLINE?

It's almost a ritual for Fantasy Premier League managers to spend their Saturday morning agonising over their team. Be it a late transfer or a last-minute captain swap, these vital moments before a Gameweek deadline can decide where mini-leagues are won or lost. But be warned. If you leave it until Saturday this time it will be too late. Because the 2018/19 season starts on Friday 10 August, all Gameweek 1 teams must be finalised an hour before the opening match of the season kicks off. That means managers must submit their final selections by 19:00 BST on Friday 10 August... a week from today! Don't get caught out Similarly, those waiting for the transfer window to close before starting on their FPL team are at risk. While big-name signings could yet be added to the game before 17:00 BST 9 August, managers putting off registration could pay a big price. Remember, the speed with which managers register their FPL teams can affect their chances of winning mini-leag...
